Whales are mammals that live in the ocean. Over 40 million years ago whales walked on land. The whale species that walked on land is called Indohyrus, but they are now extinct. It is said that Indogyhyrus were carnivores, but in their environment there was not enough meat to survive. Some migrated to another environment, and became hippopotamus, and the others decided to swim in water and ate sea food. Two parvorders of whales are the Beleen Whales (Picture A), and Toothed whales (Picture B). They became so adapted to the water environment they grew fins, and today whales wont survive on land even though they breathe air.
